Completed projects: Innovation Procurement

Eco-Innovative Public Procurement

Public procurement is regarded as an effective instrument for the environmental adaptation of products, despite its full potential remaining unclear. The aim of the project was to investigate public procurement’s potential for increasing the share of environmentally innovative goods and services in the Nordic region. This was done in order to develop a strategy for improvement. The project was carried out with PlanMiljø in Denmark as project manager and the Nordic Council of Ministers as commissioner.

The results of the project are intended for use in Nordic countries that are currently implementing the new EU directive for public procurement and developing action plans for Green Public Procurement, GPP, according to the recommendations of the EU Commission.

The national action plans for ETAP have also positioned public procurement as an important instrument for the development of environmental technology. The results of the project can thus contribute valuable insight into the instrument’s potential to lead development.

Jegrelius’ interim task was to investigate the eco potential of the IT and construction sectors through a number of interviews.

Technology Procurement for a Non-toxic Environment

Society is becoming increasingly attentive to the problems of substances that are hazardous to health and the environment; substitution with less harmful alternatives is desirable. Technology procurement with a focus on the substitution of substances that are hazardous to health and the environment in products and systems is an interesting tool. It can contribute to new, less harmful alternatives being introduced more quickly to the market, whilst stimulating business development and growth.

Technology Procurement NMR

The Technology Procurement Project – Nordic experiences and future potential, was carried out in cooperation with PlanMiljø in Denmark and GRIP in Norway and was commissioned by the Nordic Council of Ministers.

The overall aim of the project was to gather experience available in the Nordic countries and internationally, in order to provide proposals about how technology procurement can develop in each Nordic country individually, and for joint development in the Nordic countries.
